About Us
U.S.C.G. Auxiliary Organization:
For maximum administrative effectiveness in carrying out Auxiliary programs, flotillas in the same general geographic area are grouped into divisions. The division provides administrative, training and supervisory support to flotillas and promotes district policy. Each division is headed by a Division Captain (DCP), and Division Vice-Captain (VCP) and usually consists of five or more flotillas.
History:
Division 12 started with the formation of our initial Flotilla in November of 1939 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Our five flotillas cover the northeastern portion of Tennessee and the southeastern portion of Kentucky. For the most part, we are the visible part of Team Coast Guard on the waters of our area.
Worthy Missions:
We support Coast Guard Group Ohio Valley in Louisville, Kentucky, MSO Paducah, Kentucky, MSD Nashville, Tennessee, and the area activities of the USCGC Ouachita out of Chattanooga, Tennessee and the Coast Guard Recruiting Office, Knoxville, Tennessee. Our operational facilities patrol 165 miles of navigable waterways on the Tennessee River upstream of mile marker 567, the Little Tennessee River, the Clinch River, and the Emory River. In addition, we patrol recreational lakes Boone, Cherokee, Douglas, and Norris in Tennessee and Laurel in Kentucky. Our members are active in providing public boating safety education classes in the area, conducting vessel safety checks at area boat ramps and marinas, and public appearances promoting recreational boating safety. We are very active in supporting the Academy Introduction Mission (AIM) program and informing area youth about Coast Guard opportunities.
